CALCOM SOLAR LAUNCHES ENERGY STORAGE

May 28, 2017

CalCom Solar Has Secured Customers over $2 Million in New California State Storage Incentives

VISALIA, California – CalCom Solar, a premier solar project development and energy solutions company, has announced the launch of its new energy storage business unit. CalCom Solar will increase customers’ energy savings and prepare for upcoming utility rate changes with state-of-the-art battery storage technology and solar+storage solutions. CalCom Solar successfully reserved over $2 million in newly available state incentives from California’s Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) to help customers install energy storage.

“Fast-evolving energy storage technologies are deepening the savings we can offer to our customers,” said CalCom Solar CEO Dylan Dupre. “As the utilities look to shift peak rates into the evening and increase demand charges, storage future-proofs our customers’ solar investments. Demand charges are the second biggest component of customers’ energy bills, and storage tackles them head-on. With storage, CalCom Solar is furthering our commitment to deliver world class energy projects that save money for our agricultural and water customers. We’ve been developing our storage product offering over the past year, and with the combination of falling battery costs and the new incentive program now is a great time for customers to go solar+storage.”

Earlier this year, the State of California re-opened this SGIP incentive program to help customers purchase energy storage systems. CalCom Solar submitted 15 applications on customers’ behalf, and ultimately ranked as the 8th largest participant (out of 140+ applicants) for these new statewide incentives. Customers of PG&E, SCE, and SDG&E are eligible for an incentive as high as $500 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) when they install energy storage – enough to cover most of the cost of a storage system. And storage systems paired with solar can be eligible for the federal investment tax credit (ITC) as well. California’s SGIP incentives remain open to help customers purchase storage and solar+storage solutions, though the amount of the incentives will fall as more customers take advantage of the program.
